Late in the afternoon I moved back. Had a look at the Fish Factory again. Spotted a bunch of SUP guys in a parking lot just in front of the harbour. Had a look. Didn´t get interested in the break they were surfing, but spotted something else. The harbour wall might be an option sometime.
Back in the bay, the wind was still coming from the west but got continuously weaker. This outside peak was still working. But I decided to have a look at the bunkers again. It was a good decision. There was still a little bit of wind, but the waves had size and form. A little peek to the north showed that the mussel reef also was improving, but the Bunkers reef was much better. And it got better with every minute as the wind was dying.
Unfortunately quite a few guys that had been here this morning had made the same decision. And a bunch of locals who had been working all day had a similar idea and had been heading straight to this beach after work. This lead to a very packed lineup full of wave-hungry surfers. The skill level had also risen another notch. There were still lulls between sets and once a good one rolled through everyone gave all to get it. Once in a while good waves were ruined by this competitive pack, but the vibes stayed relaxed and there were still quite a few waves that made it through and got honoured with an appropriate ride.
Waves stayed good until dusk and the sun gave the icing on the cake with a romantic sunset illuminating the scenery for the last hour of the day. A feast for a photographer. And for surfers alike. Nobody left the lineup even when the sun had disappeared behind the horizon.
