A few minutes later I jumped in and was once again surprised about how much fun this wobbling windblown waves can offer at this place. Choosing the small board was a bit over enthusiastic, but I managed to grab a few waves and had fun until it got dark.
The forecast for Sunday had lighter winds in the morning on offer that was supposed to get stronger in the afternoon. Looked like a good opportunity for an afternoon windsurf session at a spot that was one of my Baltic favourites years ago. So instead of driving back home to Hamburg I spent the night in the area and had for the first time the opportunity to get a closer look at the summer scene of this tourist hotspot. Found – not surprisingly – out, that this was still not my thing. Filled my stomach with some mid quality pizza and went for a stroll through the park. There was sort of live music and plenty of food stalls and mobile bars, the area in between filled with lots of people. First thing I saw when I got closer was the bouncing buttocks of a Brazilian dance group on a stage, loudly commentated by a moderator. That was too much for me and so I went straight to my van to get some sleep.
Sunday morning was sunny and warm again, with light winds from the east. I went to the bridge for a check in the faint hope that there were some waves left. To my surprise there was still some little wobble left and I went for a morning surf. It was barely surf-able but I managed to sample a few glides. Around noon I left to drive to that windsurfing spot, hoping the wind would pick up as forecasted.
