da boyzīstory:

Wednesday:

That drive from Dublin to Sligo is pretty long. So we took only a short rest at a gas station to get some food. First culture shock. But we havenīt had a breakfast so we swallowed it down. Reached Strandhill in the late afternoon. Rain (what else). Checked in at the B&B right at the beach promenade. Hard decisions were to be made as we were 3 guys and got 2 bedrooms with a double bed each. Checked the beach. Small waves were comming in. Offshore wind. Thought about going to Easkey but stayed here and surfed the small stuff. Not that great, but msw had promised that a solid 3 to 4 meter swell should come the following days. Surfed ītill dawn. Managed to find a pub that still served food. Nice dinner, finished with some local whiskey. Slept very good, despite the ancient matresses.

Thursday:

Full irish breakfast. Rain. Drove to Easkey. Rain. No wind! Headhigh waves were rolling in! Went out at the right. Only 6 other guys were out. It was still raining but nobody bothered because the surf was really nice. Glacy waves with some juice, but still very comfortable. Just one of us had a hard time paddling while still digesting that full irish breakfast. The others were allready hungry again, so we drove to Inishcrone. Found a place that served irish fast food. The one of us who had that hard time digesting his full irish breakfast in the lineup decided to take light food and ordered a salad with chicken and beef stripes. He hardly could find the green stuff underneath all that meat. Desert was an irish chocolate cake. Very stuffed we returned to Easkey.

Needless to say that it was still raining. The waves were a bit smaller but still clean, so we went out at the left. Had a lot of fun at the inside peak. Satisfied we returned to Strandhill. Got some very nice take away pizza and had dinner on our rooms. Called da cat to help him find us. Offered him a pizza but he insited that it was to spicy. Had some guiness and slept like dead.

da catīs story:

thursday:

Landed in Shannon around noon. Changing the rental car into a sleeping wagon was routine. Made a comfortable bed out of the 9,0 boardbag and the sleepingbag. Called da boyz to hear whatīs up. Told me something about sweet waves in Easkey. Decided to check Lahinch anyhow. The 3-4 ft. faces of the mellow pointbreak were a bliss. Easy takeoff and long rides on the longboard gave me a long missed joy. Just a handfull of friendly locals shared the waves with me. Stoked!

Finally I left to take the long ride up north to meet da boyz. The northwest of ireland still has those narrow, winding roads, which meant a long hard drive until I finally came to strandhill. Dizzy from the long day i couldnīt find the parking lot where I was supposed to meet da boyz. Thanks to modern communication they managed to lead me to their B&B. They offered me the rest of their dinner, which was take away pizza, and a tin can of Guiness. The pizza was incredible spicy so I couldnīt eat it despite my hunger. I was too tired anyhow so I went into my car and slept. Only that damn pizza disturbed my sweet dreams.
