da boyzī story:

friday:

according to msw this was supposed to be the day with the massive swell. We woke up from pouring rain and had a full irish breakfast. To be correct, one of us had a continental breakfast. Pussy. As we had to leave the B&B today we packed our stuff. Couldnīt find da cat, who surfed the mushy little rights at the north end of the bay as we found out later. Drove to Easkey with high expectations only to meet windblown waves without size and form. The northeasterly winds killed it and the forcasts about the swell height were just a bit exaggerated. Disappointed. Drove to Pollacheeny harbour in our dispair. Here the wind came offshore but was way too strong for the tiny swell. Went to Inishcrone for supper where we met da cat.

We decided to drive to the Bundoran area in the hope to find some swell that wouldnīt be annihilated by the stiff winds. At least they would be offshore there.

Took a little detour to check Mullaghmore head. Very nice peninsula but no waves.

Drove to Bundoran. The wind came offshore but The Peak was flat. Last hope Tullan Strand. Very tiny little waves rolled in. To be honest, crappy waves crumbled in. Da cat took his longie while we decided to have some kentucky fried chickens.

Returned to Mullaghmore head and found a B&B. The owner was a funny guy. Donīt know what he thought about three guys renting one room with a double bed and a single bed. Came in by surprise just after we checked in. Maybe hoped to catch us doing some naughty things. In vain. Only could remind us that we should not wear shoes in bed.

Pouring rain. We drove to Mullaghmore and had dinner in a take away pizza shop. The pizza was fantastic! We swallowed it with a good load of Guinnes (out of tin cans) and a small bottle of Bushmills. Went to a pub after that where we met da cat again and had more Guiness and Bushmills. Discussed the females in general and some of da boyzī girlfriends in particular. Had more Guiness and Bushmills. Found out that we were a bit drunk allready and abruptly decided to leave. This took da cat by surprise who hadnīt finished his drinks. We had no other choice. Had to leave immediately. Poor da cat was complaining like mad but couldnīt stop us. Somehow managed to drive back to the B&B without crashing into something. Started feeding the plants in the garden with some pizza, Guiness and Bushmills.......

da catīs story:

friday:

Woke up at 7.15. Surfed the knee high clean sets at the north end of the bay at Strandhill. Alone, for sure, īcause for 1-2ft. faces nobody does the early bird thing here. Went to Inishcrone after that to meet da boyz and have breakfast. Full irish of course. Drove up north to Mullaghmore head and Bundoran with da boyz. Tullan Strand was offshore and some nice waves rolled in. Surfed the left just underneath the cliffs. High tide worked good and I shared the lineup with a dozen of surfers and a friendly dolphin. I had a lot of fun and left the water late. Da boyz called me to come to Mullaghmore to join them in the pub.

Found them in the only pub in town and had a hard time to catch up to their level of, hmmmm, lets say their score of swalled brown local liquids. Had a lot of fun. But just when I came into full party mode, they left. All three of them suddenly stood up, said good by and searched their way out. I protested furiously. I hadnīt even finished my drink. In vain, nothing could stop them. So I finished my drink and left the pub too. The fresh, wet and cold air was a shock. I made my way to my car to drive to a parking near by where I wanted to spend the night. Suddenly a really drunk local approached me. Told me something, that I couldnīt understand. Grabbed my shoulder. Couldnīt tell if he needed support for not falling or was looking for a fight. Scared me as he was really pissed and had almost double the weight of me. So I went back to the pub and got a room for the night. Only costed me 70 €
